I. Analysis of the Teaching Material 
This is the first period in this unit. The title of this unit is Nelson Mandela and the topic is the qualities of a great person. Warming up is about adjectives to describe a great person. Pre-reading is to discuss these six people are great men or famous people. The title of the passage is ELIAS’ STORY. We can know more about Nelson Mandela from Elias’ story. 
II. Analysis of the Students 
As Senior One students, maybe they don’t know Nelson Mandela who is far away from students’ life. And they haven’t accumulated a certain number of words especially adjectives to describe a great person.  III. Teaching Aims and Demands By the end of this class, the students will: A. Master the adjectives to describe a great person. B. Give opinions. 
C. Know the qualities of a great person and learn from him. D. Learn different reading strategies.
